Here is a sample for you to enjoy. In the properties of each file I found the earliest date recorded on my present computer and listed it. I included it for your information only. I only did minor editing to clean up the stories. I only ask one thing. After you read these stories, please go to the end of the book and click on the link and let me know how you liked each story. A simple GOOD, BAD, TERRIBLE, QUIT POLLUTING THE INTERNET WITH E-BOOKS, or any other comment will let me know which type of stories you like. I don't aim to please, because I write for my enjoyment, whether you like them or not. However, I do listen and sometimes change my mind.Back before I knew about e-books I took a writing course online. One of the questions asked was my goal to get published. Because I knew that the publishing houses controlled writers, I replied that I wanted to collect a thousand rejection slips. The instructor praised me for my attitude because she said that many aspiring writers gave up after rejections by the print publication houses. I failed because I only collected seven before I discovered online publishing at Smashwords. No use banging my head against a brick wall where someones else's preconceived ideas limit my freedom of expression.

Just My Opinion Some Old and New Ideas

Just My Opinion series is one that I'll build upon as time progresses. Now that I am retired I have the time to start going through these old files. If I'd kept every old computer I ever had everything would be readily accessible, but I didn't. Some I will publish with present day comments. Hope you enjoy them!Just My Opinion series is one that I'll build upon as time progresses. My first computer was a TI-99. I have stories and files on cassette tape, 5 1/2 in floppy's, 3.25 floppy's, old hard drives, and on stacks of paper. Now that I am retired I have the time to start going through these old files. If I'd kept every old computer I ever had everything would be readily accessible. When I hit a roadblock on the stories I'm presently writing I go back and look through these old files. Some were so wild I just deleted them. Others I will publish with present day comments. Hope you enjoy them!

    From Texas to New York

From Texas to New York

This is a collection of three stories. They were not written in sequence or even in the same year. The first is about what could happen if enough enemies of the US infiltrated our southern border and what a response could be. The second is about an individual with an idea and what he has to do to get it recognized. The third is about a different type of invasion. When seventeen-year-old Haley Sullivan is dragged to a corporate party with her parents, she's searching for one thing - the nearest exit. Instead, she finds a mysterious stranger who plays by his own rules and chases his own dreams, and he's definitely cute enough to disappear with for the night. Convinced that he can help her escape the perfectly corporate future that's been planned for her, Haley agrees to meet him the next day. However, Mr. Mysterious is a no show.Determined to track him down, Haley enlists her best friend Linzi to help, but according to the local newspapers, the guy she met has been dead for years. Knowing he's very much alive, Haley and Linzi follow clues on a scavenger-hunt-style road trip that ultimately lands them in the surf town of Crescent Cove, California, where her mystery guy is no mystery at all. He's living as Colby Taylor, the west coast's biggest professional surfer. But talking to the surf star again is nearly impossible when he's guarded by a hierarchy of beach bums who are determined to send Haley back to the east coast. Haley is up for the challenge of submerging herself in their world, from wild summer nights and beach parties to ocean air and secret kisses in the dark, but when the lines blur between the ocean and the shore, she isn't so sure she's here for Colby anymore. Sure, being thrown off a jet ski sucks, but falling in love with one of these California boys might just be worse.(This is book #1 of the Drenaline Surf series but can be read as a stand-alone novel.)

Survival Family

You may have noticed I'm using a plain green cover. I lost my cover designer. However, I think that the story is more important than the flashy cover. The short stories are about four families that prepare for the worse. Some deliberately, some just fell into preparing. Enjoy! When a mysterious creature targets a young boy, only paranormal investigator Soren Chase can stop it. But can Soren save the boy in time? For Soren, the case is personal. The boy's father was John Townes, Soren's best friend who died in a supernatural attack several years earlier. Soren will do anything to save John's son, but he must act fast. Because the kidnapper has a mission of his own, and he's willing to destroy anyone who gets in his way...A prequel to the full-length novel The Forest of Forever, Closed at Dark is a self-contained novella that can be enjoyed by anyone who loves urban fantasy, mystery and suspense.

Pacific 41

Mix a ship out of control and an active oil rig, and then stir gently with a hurricane. With luck nothing, but when you don't have luck you have something interesting. Then add in the fact that it's almost a mile deep in the ocean. A short story of what could be, and maybe someday will happen.NASA helps SETI locate the origin of an extraterrestrial radio signal to a human habitat on the far side of the moon. These human inhabitants have lived in a subterranean cave system for millions of years. Their social structure is very unlike that on Earth. Differing from the usual adventure stories dealing with aliens, this science fiction narrative is serious, short and precise and has a novel presentation of technology, philosophy and ideology. The narrative is blended in a mix of interesting concepts for readers of all ages with an interest in science fiction and philosophy. The really remarkable and singular feature of the book unravels as the soft and gentle mannerisms underlying the basic nature of these aliens come to light in the later hapters.

Fairy Punishment

Fairies have always enchanted children. Here is a twist on the nice fairies everyone knows.I was sitting around looking over some old files. You know how it is, like junk you've got to clean out of the attic, basement, or garage. It kinda put me in the mood to pull the wings off some flies. Unfortunately, I'm not fast enough to catch flies anymore, plus it's winter in Texas. I found an old short story I wrote for Renee several years ago when she was compiling An Anthology of Modern Fairy Tales #1. Loki was the only one around with wings so I pulled them! Enjoy!

Nightmares

Over the years, everyone has nightmares. Some from eating to late, some from life experiences, and others from just listening to the evening news just before bedtime. These nightmares are in alphabetical order by title.A collection of nightmares that … well you decide. Over the years, everyone has nightmares. Some from eating to late, some from life experiences, and others from just listening to the evening news just before bedtime. A few nights ago I watched the evening news, and then went to bed. I woke up in a cold sweat about three AM remembering a few stories I'd published years ago, and some I wrote but didn't publish. I don't remember what caused the original nightmares that prompted me to write those stories. I reread them and decided to republish them, and publish some of the unpublished ones. I still have several, but they are so off the wall or what you would consider controversial, that I'm going to hold onto them unless I hear their contents in the news. After all, I'm not a harbinger. Each is a nightmare in its own right, some more so than others. It depends on your point of view. These nightmares are in alphabetical order by title. Here they are!
