The Devil is an Irishman
Eddie Lenihan
A collection of stories recounting Irish encounters with the Devil. Whether one is a night-rambler, a fisherman, a gambler or a plain ordinary farmer, there are certain things one does not do, certain conventions that must be obeyed, such as not fishing on Good Friday or talking to spectral figure in graveyards in the dead hours of the night. The only trouble is that when the cause of trouble id the Devil, the consequences for the luckless victim are very serious indeedunless he has the presence of mind to beat the Evil One.

The Duke Is a Devil
Karen Lingefelt
Dane Armstrong, Duke of Bradbury, has caused enough trouble for aspiring author Cecily Logan that she's written a book about him—but for her eyes only, since it reads as if she might be in love and hoping to trap him into marriage. When the manuscript is stolen by a third party who schemes to profit from it unless the duke yields to blackmail, Cecily courts scandal by calling on Bradbury to ply his so-called ducal powers against publication—or one of them will face ruin and ridicule. What Cecily doesn't know is that Dane's already used those fabled powers to read the book and learn the secret she fears will make her a laughingstock. The devil in him wants to see how far she'll go to prevent the disaster she imagines, even to plotting seduction and surrendering to wicked temptation. Cecily may not have to forfeit her soul, but Dane soon finds himself in danger of losing his heart.

The Devil Is a Black Dog
Sandor Jaszberenyi
In the nineteen extraordinary stories that comprise The Devil Is a Black Dog and Other Stories, writer and photojournalist Sándor Jászberényi shows us the human side of war and revolution in the contemporary Middle East and Africa, and of the social upheaval that has held Eastern Europe in its grip since the fall of communism. Characters contemplate the meaning of home, love, despair, family, and friendship against the backdrop of brutality. From Cairo to the Gaza Strip, from Benghazi to Budapest, religious men have their faith challenged, and people under the duress of war or traumatic personal memories deal with the feelings that emerge. Often they seem to suppress these feelings . . . but, no, not quite. The Dealer is the Devil
Adrian Newstead
Art
Adrian Newstead's explosive memoir lifts the lid on what Robert Hughes once described as "the last great art movement of the 20th century." After thirty years sitting round campfires with Aboriginal artists all over Australia, Newstead has produced the definitive expose of "the first great art movement of the 21st century". From remote indigenous communities with their dispossessed populations of tribal elders and troubled youth, to the gleaming white box galleries, high powered auction houses, and formidable art institutions of major cities all over the world. Newstead combines personal anecdotes with an insider's grasp of the inter national art market. With vivid portraits of artists, dealers and scamsters, the book races from pre-contact and colonial days to the heady celebrations of the Sydney Olympics and the devastating impact of the global financial crisis. Newstead's humour, love and respect for his subjects produces a story that reads at times like a thriller and also...
